Are you thinking of eloping, but you’re not quite sure where? Well, let me introduce you to one of the most INCREDIBLE places on the planet – Lake Tahoe!! Being a Lake Tahoe elopement photographer, I might be a bit biased, but this is not just any place; it’s an absolute PARADISE that guarantees an elopement experience unlike any other.

So let’s dive into my Lake Tahoe Elopement Guide to help you create your dream day!

North vs. South Lake Tahoe Elopement

Lake Tahoe is split in two sides, North and South, offering a very different experience. So I recommend researching which side speaks more to you!

North Lake Tahoe offers a more laid-back, serene experience. It’s all about those dreamy mountain views, crystal-clear lakes, and tranquil vibes. Perfect if you’re looking for a quiet, INTIMATE ceremony!

On the other hand, if you’re all about that action, South Lake Tahoe is where it’s at! Think bustling nightlife, restaurants galore, and all kinds of water sports. Plus, there are some really breathtaking wedding spots that you will fall in love with!

LakE Tahoe Weather

One of the best parts of Lake Tahoe is the fact that you get to experience all four seasons, which is uncommon for California and Nevada!

Winter

Lake Tahoe turns into a winter wonderland! It’s cold, with average temperatures hovering between 15°F to 40°F. Expect a decent amount of snowfall which blankets the landscape into a pristine white paradise. Perfect for that cozy, winter wedding aesthetic!

Spring

Spring is the transition period in Lake Tahoe. You might encounter some leftover snow early in the season, but it starts to warm up with average temperatures ranging from 25°F to 60°F. The snow melts, and the area bursts with greenery and blooming flowers. This is a great season to play with floral accessories and lighter fabrics in your wedding attire.

Summer

Summers in Lake Tahoe are absolutely delightful! With temperatures ranging around 70°F, the days are warm and sunny, while the evenings cool down comfortably. The lake sparkles under the sun, making it an amazing time for a beachside ceremony or a boat wedding.

Fall

Fall is arguably the most beautiful season for a Lake Tahoe elopement. The trees turn stunning shades of red, orange, and gold, and the temperatures range between 30°F to 70°F. The crisp air and the warm colors make for stunning elopement photos.

The later fall months are also when the off-season starts, so you’d get to avoid larger crowds, and see lower pricing!

Best Spots to Elope in Lake Tahoe

There are SO MANY gorgeous spots to elope in Lake Tahoe that would fit your heart’s desire! These are some of my recommendations, but if you book me as your elopement photographer, I’d be happy to dive deeper and find the perfect spot for you!

Emerald Bay State Park

Named for its emerald green waters, Emerald Bay State Park is a natural wonder and a heavenly spot for an elopement. It’s surrounded by majestic mountains and lush green forests, making it the perfect backdrop for your elopement ceremony and all the photos to follow!

Logan Shoals Vista Point

Perched on a cliff, Logan Shoals offers panoramic views of the expansive lake and rugged mountains. It’s especially stunning at sunset, with the sky painting a colorful backdrop for your special moment. However, I wouldn’t recommend this spot for a winter elopement, because heavy snowfalls make it difficult to access.

Sand Harbor Beach

Craving a beach elopement? Sand Harbor Beach has got you covered! Its clear waters, sandy beaches, and enormous granite boulders create a surreal landscape. You can exchange your vows barefoot on the sand, followed by a beach picnic to celebrate. To avoid large crowds in this popular location, I recommend eloping here in late fall or early spring!

Lake View Social

If you’re looking for something traditional yet really cute and intimate, Lake View Social is the venue for you! It’s a beautiful, rustic space, surrounded by a picturesque backyard and towering trees, it’s perfect for outdoorsy couples looking for a rustic charm for their wedding day.
